The company has developed its ecological building material as raw materials are scarce on the market. KARZ is an insulation panel based on coffee bean wastes with eco-friendly binders (low-content biogenic PUR) and optimized performance based on local production chains. It is based on local coffee bean production chains improving eco-balance. It reduces embodied emissions by using wastes with eco-friendly binders due to lower U-value; at the same wall thickness being 20-40% lower than state-of-the-art solutions.

Role in the project

In the GreeNest ecosystem, K-MÄLEON’s innovative KARZ insulation panels will be part of the EcoTechWall (SP11) and will be demonstrated at the Berlin Pavilion demo. Furthermore, K-MÄLEON will upscale production of the KARZ system based on mobile transferrable production systems facilitating regional production process chains with small and medium companies.
